College de Bethel O'Level Students recently participated in an educational visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial and the Campaign Against Genocide Museum, with the aim of deepening their understanding of Rwanda’s history and the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. The trip was organized as part of their academic program to connect classroom learning with real-life historical experiences.
At the Gisozi Memorial, students were guided through various exhibitions that clearly explain the causes, events, and consequences of the genocide. They also paid their respects to the victims laid to rest at the site. The visit provided a moment of reflection, allowing students to better understand the importance of unity, resilience, and remembrance in building a peaceful society.
The journey continued to the Campaign Against Genocide Museum (CND), where students learned about the role of the former Rwandan Patriotic Army in stopping the genocide. Through preserved materials, photographs, and detailed explanations, they gained insight into the strategies and sacrifices that contributed to the liberation of the country.
Overall, the visit was highly impactful, giving students a deeper appreciation of Rwanda’s history and reinforcing the values of peace, responsibility, and patriotism. Such educational tours remain essential in shaping informed and responsible citizens for the future.
